Shea Mellow Named Principal of West Meadow Elementary School

Livingstone Range School Division is pleased to announce that Shea Mellow has been named Principal of West Meadow Elementary School, beginning December 2, 2024.

Mellow holds Bachelor of Fine Arts and Education and Master of Educational Leadership degrees from the University of Lethbridge. She won the Alberta School Boards Association Edwin Parr Teacher Award for first-year teachers in 2001, and has taught Kindergarten through Grade 12 with an emphasis on literacy, social studies, and art. Mellow has been an instructional coach, principal, and most recently an educational developer at the post-secondary level.

"We are very excited to welcome Ms. Mellow to our Livingstone Range School Division family," says Richard Feller, Deputy Superintendent, Human & Learning Services. "Shea brings a wealth of experience and expertise as an instructional coach and instructional leader. Her commitment to excellence through building positive relationships, honouring collaboration and ensuring communication will certainly support the students, staff and community of West Meadow Elementary School."

With a passion for community and a belief in prioritizing belonging and personal achievement, Mellow is prepared for the opportunities that await at West Meadow. "I am honoured and excited to serve the students, families, and staff as the principal of West Meadow Elementary School." says Mellow. "The heart of rural communities is so often grounded and illuminated through the schools. I am eager to connect with the people of Claresholm and partner with the incredible staff to continue to build a learning space centered around  belonging, achievement, and warmth."

Mellow is a wife and mother of two children, one enjoying his second year of university and one looking forward to graduating high school this year. Her family also includes a portly cat (who has a lot of swagger) named Miso. Mellow loves to travel, most recently walking a portion of the Camino in Portugal and Spain with her closest friend of almost forty years. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing games with friends, attending live music events, and fostering some creativity through painting, drawing, pottery, and stained glass.

Congratulations to Shae Mellow on her new role.
